KuCoin review

By Vetted Exchanges Editorial Team , fact-checked by Vetted Exchanges Review Board

7.4

Our verdict

A reasonable mid-cap altcoin venue if you already understand the risk profile. There is no reason to choose it over OKX or Bybit as a primary account.

The full review

KuCoin’s pitch has always been listings: if a mid-cap token exists, it is probably here, usually with better depth than the long-tail venues. The KCS discount takes spot fees to 0.08%, which is genuinely competitive.

The history is the problem. A $280m hot-wallet breach in 2020 and a US enforcement action in 2024 are both on the record. Users were made whole in the first case and the platform restructured after the second, but two events of that size in five years is a pattern, and our security and reputation sub-scores reflect it.

For a trader who wants mid-cap exposure and already runs a primary account somewhere stronger, KuCoin is a defensible second venue. As a first exchange it is hard to justify.

How we reviewed KuCoin

We scored KuCoin against the same nine criteria we apply to every exchange: fees, security, liquidity, features, ease of use, support, country availability, deposit options and long-term track record. Fee figures come from the exchange’s own published schedule (verified 2026-09-04), availability from its terms and support documentation, and the incident history from primary reporting and the exchange’s own disclosures.

This review was written by Vetted Exchanges Editorial Team and fact-checked by Vetted Exchanges Review Board. It is scheduled for re-verification by 2026-12-04, and sooner if KuCoin changes its pricing, its country availability, or its security posture. Vetted Exchanges Editorial Team holds no position in KuCoin or its token, and the affiliate relationship disclosed above played no part in the score.
